We started learning about habitats in
preparation for the arrival of our crayfish. We talked about the needs and
wants of crayfish and how we can create a habitat that meets those needs and
wants. Crayfish have dominated our conversations, thoughts
and wishes since they arrived in our classroom.
We began our investigation of the crayfish observing each one of the
body structures and trying to figure out what the crayfish might use them for. Third graders have been reading non-fiction
texts about crayfish to learn about their habitat, feeding habits and life
cycle. We will continue observing and
learning about the behaviors of crayfish.
